Hey, Business Bankers! Your LinkedIn Profile Is Your “New” Resume!

If a business owner or professional is interested in learning more about you or doing business with you, the first place they will look is your LinkedIn profile. The quality of your profile will determine if they take the next step. If you don’t invest the time optimizing and nurturing your profile, I guarantee that you are going to miss out on valuable opportunities! Optimizing and nurturing your LinkedIn profile is easy & fast!  Here are a few quick tips to get started.

 Headshot: Jump into your professional attire, find a wall with a white or gray background, and have your colleague take your picture.  Your iPhone is just as good as any professional camera! Upload the headshot to LinkedIn.

 Headline:  State the type of work you do, how you get it done and the end result.  This is a very concise value statement that answers the question “why should I do business with you?”

About Section: Here you want to elaborate on the headline above. List the reasons why people should contact you or the reasons why prospects would want to hire you as their banker!

Skills:  List your skill set.  These are the things you can do to help your clients or prospects solve a problem, overcome a challenge or take advantage of an opportunity.

Work Experience: List what you’ve done, who you did it for, how you got it done and the results.

Education: Accurately list your education. You can also list certifications or specialized training you've received.

Nurture Your Profile: Start developing your personal brand.  Business owners hire bankers because something led them to believe that the banker has the ability to help them achieve a goal, overcome a challenge or solve a problem. Become active on LinkedIn.  See what others are doing.  Post valuable content.
